About Me

Small piece of 'Self-Portrait, Age 20', ©1999 Roberta RoebuckAs most people close to me know, I am truly an artist at heart. On the surface, I am a web application developer with an MBA. I’ve been into Web development for several now.

…but I’ve been an artist for over 21 years…

I can clearly remember the day I decided I was going to be an artist…and I was only 7 years old.  I’ve never really wavered from this passion of mine, even if some years produced more drawings and paintings than others. I also may have never tried to sell my art, but I don’t care. Berta C. RoebuckThat’s not what makes an artist. It’s my passion to draw, the happiness it brings to me and possibly to others, and the creativity involved that make me an artist. It’s a state of mind.

The purpose of this site is to store and display all of my “dead-tree” art such as drawings, paintings, sketch journal pages, art and design class assignments, and so on. I may even post some photography from time to time. I have to admit that a large motivation for me to keep this portfolio up to date, as well as continue to post old work, is to provide a way for me to peruse past work without getting my fingers covered in charcoal and pencil as I sift through old portfolios. And I have plenty of those, going as far back as drawings I’ve saved since I was about 8 years old (which incidentally are beginning to look very tired and yellowed).

So, this project will develop over time. I have countless pieces that I’ve created over the last twenty plus years of my life, both finished and unfinished, that I will have to take photos of in order to display them here. So, please bear with me if I go without posting anything for a few days or weeks. It will take a lot of time just converting everything to a digital format.

Please feel free to leave comments!
