Sources: Clinique and L’oréal advertisements from the magazine Real Simple

Title: Drawing from 1989, no.2
Year: 1989
Medium: Colored Pencil
Details: Drawn when I was 9 or 10 years old. I’m pretty sure this drawing was done in just graphite originally, and that it was my niece, Jessica, who added the colored pencil when she was 8 or 9 years old about 10 years later. Gotta give credit where it’s due! :)

Title: Drawing from 1989, no.1
Year: 1989
Medium: Colored Pencil
Details: The drawing on the left I did when I was 9 years old. The drawing on the right my mom drew of me while I was drawing the one on the left. :)

Year: 2007
Medium: Pigment liner (.01 and .03 mostly), colored pencil
Format: approximately 6″ x 8″ or 6″ x 9″ each
etails: These are drawings I did for three of my close friends for Christmas/New Years. We had decided to make “admire statements” for each other, implemented in whatever way we chose to do so, instead of spending money. What a a great idea! The idea came from my friend Jamie Varon, and she wrote about it in this post. What I chose to do for my pieces is use a common quote in each of the pieces and incorporate words which I felt described each of their characters (which you may or may not be able to make out in the images below). I had no idea what I was drawing for each going in to them. They just sort of… happened. And I love how they turned out!
I chose this particular quote because each of my friends are experiencing great changes in their lives, and I wanted a way to express that friendship is important, no matter the distance between the friends. Here it is in type, in case you can’t read it in the drawings…
“Even though we’ve changed and we’re all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we’ll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we are not all still friends.” - author unknown

Title: Wine Corkscrew
Year: 2007
Medium: Prismacolor markers, black and white colored pencils, ink pens, graphite, Adobe Photoshop CS3 (final)
Format: 11″ x 17″
Class: Graphic Visualization (CDES 333) at CSU, Chico
Details: For this assignment we had to redesign a common household object or appliance. The final was to be a comprehensive rendering of our idea, printed out digitally in color on 11″ x 17″ paper. It had to include a title, a short description, images of the product in use, elevations (“flat” renderings of the product), and possible other colors (optional). For the final digital composition I scanned, and then layered in Photoshop, pieces of the studies I had done (displayed at the bottom of this post) instead of re-illustrating the combined items by hand.

Title: ‘Trash Collect-igator’
Year: 2007
Medium: Prismacolor markers (30%, 50%, and 70% cool greys), black and white colored pencils, ink pens
Format: 11″ x 15″
Class: Graphic Visualization (CDES 333) at CSU, Chico
Details: For this assignment we had to create a robot that could perform a typical household chore. I think mine is pretty self-explanatory, complete with the end of it’s tail being a step for opening the mouth wider… or lifting the trash lid in terms of a real trash can.
